Traffic police in Shenzhen will fine drivers driving into heavily congested crossroads, even if the green light is on. The new traffic measures will start on Sunday, the Nanfang Daily reported.

Drivers who disobey this rule can be fined 300RMB (around 45 USD) for the first offence and 500 RMB if they received more than three offences in a single year. The rule excludes drivers who may drive into a heavily congested intersection under the directions of traffic police officers.

Shenzhen traffic authorities have scheduled in the new rule for the first two weeks of this month, allowing drivers to get accustomed to the new regulation.

To deal with breaches to the regulation, surveillance cameras and traffic officers will be deployed.
