Alaskan cod, Japanese salmon, Ecuadorian white shrimps and Italian ice cream bought from Womai, an online food retailer, will be delivered faster to Qingdao and its surrounding cities from now on. The food platform opened a new storage center in Qingdao, Shandong province on Aug 1, reported the Qingdao Daily.

Cold chain storage is essential to the firm’s competitiveness in the food sector. A director of the firm claimed that delivery times would be vastly reduced thanks to the new facility, particularly for people living in the immediate vicinity of the new storage center.

Currently, Womai has 15 refrigeration warehouses across the country, with a distribution network covering 335 cities and regions.

Womai, founded by the well-known supplier of agricultural products, China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corp in 2009, has developed into a leading food e-commerce platform, with a well-established cold storage system.
