Restaurant owner offers free seafood meal for sanitation workers

  On May 1, International Labor Day, a Yangzhou seafood restaurant owner, Jiang Jun, gavea tantalizing seafood feast for 160 local sanitation workers. The offering was Jiang’s way ofpaying respect to these urban environmental workers.

  In order to offer the best possible service, Jiang’s restaurant opened exclusively for thesanitation workers. The manager and some waitresses stood at the door to explain thesituation to their regulars. Jiang set 16 tables and prepared 20 dishes plus 10 desserts foreach table.

  For most of the sanitation workers, eating seafood is a luxury. In fact, it was the first timesome of them had ever tried seafood. A 60-year-old environmental worker, She Guixiang,told journalists that she had received her invitation three days before, and it was her firsttime tasting most of the exquisite dishes. She was happy and touched to be shown suchrespect as a sanitation worker in Yangzhou.

  To make sure the sanitation workers had a satisfactory meal, Jiang provided each tablewith cuisine worth 2,500 yuan. “I see these urban environmental workers working longhours to make our city a better place. I wanted to invite them for a delicious meal as myway of saying thank you,” Jiang explained.
