David posed for a photo in Jinan University.
David, who comes from France, a romantic nation, is now studying Chinese in Jinan University. Interestingly, unlike other romantic Frenchmen, David is an extremely funny guy.
David is famed as not only an overseas student but also a part-time French teacher of Jinan University. He is definitely a fair-haired boy among students for his handsome face and humorous words. "Some students take photos of me in class. They thought I know nothing about it, but actually I can catch them out of the corner of my eye," David laughed.
David was born in Rennes, France. "The University of Rennes has partnership with Jinan University in China so that we have no choice but to study here," said David, "The most puzzling thing for me is so many students of Jinan University still choose Chinese as their major while studying in University of Rennes." The love for Chinese brought David here. "I majored in English and Spanish and minored in Chinese when I was in college. English and Spanish is not so hard to handle for me as they both come from Latin. However, gradually, I found I love Chinese more than I thought." "Like a magic, different Chinese characters can be formed by multiple radicals in different orders with various meaning. More significantly, the same radicals gathered together with different orders can make up various Chinese characters! That’s why I come to China to re-study Chinese after I graduated in University of Rennes."
David enjoys Chinese traditional culture very much, especially Chinese ancient poetry. David can recite lots of poetries, like The Deer Enclosure of Wang Wei. He prefers to poetries about mountains."I admire Confucius. His words are filled with philosophy and his ideas are quite interesting." "There is certainly a reason why wise man could be a wise man." David thinks highly of Confucius.
When it comes to the life in Jinan, David said he felt unaccustomed to the surroundings here at the beginning, but he has adapted to it though gaps in ways of life are wide between France and China. Everything is perfect in Jinan except its environment as well as the cold winter, said David. David also is a Chinese food lover. "I love the steamed stuffed buns. How could it be such delicious! Every time I think about it, it makes my mouth water!" Sweet potato croquette is another delicacy for David. However, what impresses him most is people' ways of doing things in Jinan." My Chinese friends like group outings. Every time they go out, they would invite me and barely leave me behind." "You know, in France, or any other European countries, people prefer to go out alone on their own schedules. But, in fact, I enjoy the hospitality of Jinan people and feel very welcome."
There is only half a year for David studying in Jinan University, and he will go back to France in May this year."I will come back to China one day—purely for the sweet potato croquette," laughed David.
