Shandong people enjoys a total of 214.7 days of “blue sky with white clouds and starry nights” last year, according to statistics released at a press conference hosted by the Environmental Protection Department of Shandong Province on January 21. The composite index of Shandong’s environment and air quality is enhanced by 7.9 percent to the last year.

　　Since 2013, Shandong provincial environmental protection department has signed a responsibility agreement of air pollution prevention and control with the 17 municipal governments and relevant provincial departments respectively. A joint prevention and control mechanism of provincial capital-centered city clusters has been put into practice.

　　The meeting of joint prevention and control of air pollution hosted by the People’s Government of Shandong Province was held in November 2015. At meeting, seven cities, namely Jinan, Zibo, Tai’an, Laiwu, Dezhou, Liaocheng and Binzhou signed an agreement aiming at tackling the air pollution jointly.

　　The provincial financial authority granted 132.61 million yuan of ecological compensation fund in 2015. With 19.71 million yuan turned over by related cities, Shandong eventually granted a total of 112.9 million yuan last year. Linyi city got the most compensation, 14.71 million yuan while Dezhou and Liaocheng got 3.1 million yuan respectively, the least amount of compensation last year.
