Hstyle: to be an agent operator of Korean brands in China

  Most of the young people who like shopping online are familiar with Hstyle, a Jinan-based Internet fast fashion brand, which is now not only a clothing brand but has grown to be an incubation platform of fashion brands. Taking advantage of the China-Korea FTA, Hstyle plans to introduce more Koran brands and to be their agent operator in China.

  From being a purchasing agency to establishing its own brand

  Hstyle was founded in 2006 in Jinan. In order to quickly establish an internet clothing brand, Zhao Yingguang, founder of Handu Group decided to start from being a purchasing agent of Korean clothing. One year later, employees of Hstyle gradually summed up the design elements and characteristics of the Korean fashion and attempted to design their original clothing.

  In 2008, Hstyle has grown to be a registered Internet brand and won the favour of consumers for its diverse design, fast upgrading and high cost effectiveness.

  “We have close cooperation with South Korea”, said Hu Jindong, vice general manager of Hstyle. Though almost all the clothing are designed and produced in China, the shooting of 70 percent to 80 percent of the clothing is conducted in South Korea.

  Influence of the tariff exemption or reduction of clothing as well as shoes and hats

  The China-Korea FTA was signed on June 1, 2015, stipulating clothing as well as shoes and hats from South Korea enjoy the reduction of 15 percent of the tariff in 10 to 20 years. Is there any impact on Hstyle?

  “Actually, it will be a great opportunity for us”, Hu Jindong said. The China-Korea FTA will promote the cooperation between Hstyle and Korean design teams as well as clothing factories. “A lot of people think it will bring great impact on us, but we disagree. Because we are brand creator not just an online shop. ” Hu said.

  Seize opportunity to be an agent operator of Korean brands in China

  On June 26, 2015, PROSPECS from South Korea and Handu Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement, marking PROSPECS becoming the fifth Korean brand operated by Hstyle in China.

  Hstyle aims to establish a close relationship with more Korean brands in fields of clothing, shoes and hats as well as cosmetics, and bring them in China through e-commerce.

  “We have grown to be a large brand operator and an Internet agent operating platform,” Hu Jindong stressed, “Korean brands will encounter big challenges, we can help them to open the Chinese market through cooperation.”

  Mulling to open the Korean market

  Currently, Hstyle still focuses on the Chinese market but with the advancement of the China-Korea FTA, Hstyle is mulling to open the Korean market.

  The China-Korea FTA provides a channel for Chinese commodities to enter the Korean market. Hu Jindong is very confident of the future of Hstyle due to its long-term cooperation with South Korea. “We have occupied a favorable position in the fierce Chinese market and we know how to stand our ground in the Korean market.” Hu said.
