Seung A is an overseas student from Korea. She did not want to go to Beijing or Shanghai, where there were so many Korean already, but she chose to go to Jinan, a city with fewer Korean which can be better for her to communicate with the local Chinese people. She also hopes more and more Chinese friends to know more about Korea.

“Time changes. Before, the Korean family had written family tradition, but not anymore. However, being honest and respecting the elders were still heard a lot since my childhood.” Seung said. In Korea, honorific language is needed to apply when people are talking to the elders or strangers. The junior needs to respect the senior, while the senior will also look after the junior. Though the specific family mottos are gone, the spirit of the family tradition remains.

“Nowadays, lots of Korean believes in religion. So the doctrine of the religion naturally becomes the rules that the kid needs to be followed.” Honesty, kindness and politeness become the personal habits. The social order will be fine if everyone can respect the others. Korea is a fast-paced country; the Korean people are running against time. Even so, people still strictly follow the order in public places.

In Korea, the influence of family tradition has embodied in every detail of people's social lives. Time will change, but the core of the family tradition still remains.
