A Korean girl talks on family tradition: respecting the elders, being filial to the elders

  Two families from different countries gather with each other via an international love relationship.

  Seohee is a young Korean lady. Before coming into China, she once worked in a famous dessert chain corporation in Korea, and then was sent to Canada for three years. Seohee of determination of staying in China is not merely because of the delicious food, in the meantime, for a romantic love relationship.

  As is known to all, the Korean people uphold Confuciusm and respect the elders. When it comes to the family tradition, Seohee said that respecting the elders and being filial to parents were the indoctrinations she had heard the most. People shall stand up when there are elders coming in the house; people shall take off his or her sunglasses when talking to the elders; people shall pay their respect to their parents in the morning and after the meal. If you shake hands with the elders, you shall use your two hands. “In Korea, one cannot get established in society if he or she does not respect the elders and be filial to his or her parents,” Seohee added.

  Spring festival customs is the most representative in Korean family tradition. Different from China, Korea is very peculiar in New Year’s visit etiquette, which is in great splendor, in well-aligned order and in high strictness. The reason why the Korean people stress the filial piety lies in its history sedimentation and family tradition and education about it. It is not only the family tradition, but also it is a kind of  sound social morality.
