On June 16th, the interview team of the coverage activity of the “Cultural Heritage Protection National Media Tour in Shandong” visited Dajinkou Town, Tai’an City, Shandong Province.

Seven emperors held worship ceremonies, and three of them started from Dajinkou

According to the historical data, there were altogether seven emperors holding worship ceremonies in Mount Tai, in which, Dajinkou was chosen as the starting point for three times.

Though two thousand years has passed since Qin Shi Huang topped the Mount Tai, there are still lots of relevant relics reserved in Dajinkou Town. “Emperor Wu of Han had held 8 times of Worship Ceremonies, and all started from Dajinkou Town,” an official of Dajinkou Town said.

Stone houses are everwhere, and cultural relics are all over

There are 9 administrative villages and 84 natural villages in Dajinkou Town. The buildings in the village mostly are made of stones, which nobody knew the exact time of constructing. Such kind of stone houses will keep coolness in the summer and warmth in the winter, which are very economical and practical.

Xujiatan traditional culture village locates at the northeast direction. The Xu Memorial Temple, a well-reserved municipal level immovable cultural relic, lies in the southwest of the village.

Tian Xuesheng, the director of Tai’an Municipal administration of Culture Heritage, said that, the reason of Dajinkou Town becoming the experiment unit of “rural memory project” lies in, to a great extent, the large quantities of cultural relics which can help to conduct research on the local folk customs. “Walking in the areas of Danjinkou, you may find every stone you touch possibly a cultural relic with long history.”
