Xie Zhixiu: cherish the cultural heritage for the future

  The coverage activity of “Cultural Heritage Protection National Media Tour in Shandong”, jointly hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shandong Provincial Party Committee, the Information Office of the CPC Shandong Provincial People’s Government and Shandong Administration of Cultural Heritage, and organized by sdchina.com, is officially launched in Jinan, capital of east China’s Shandong province, June 13, 2015.

  At the launching ceremony, Xie Zhixiu, head of Shandong Administration of Cultural Heritage, said the cultural heritage is neither the antique on the shelf, the secret treasure nor the lifeless fossil, it is an cultural feast closely related to people’s livelihood when he introduced the cultural heritage protection work of Shandong province. He called on citizens to take action to protect the valuable cultural heritage, to cherish and inherit the Chinese civilization for the future.

  In recent years, Shandong province implements the “seven zones and two belts” cultural heritage protection and key project-driven strategy, according to Xie Zhixiu. Last year, Shandong proposed four major measures to make the cultural relics alive through protection and utilization, and has achieved great breakthroughs in many areas. The 88 key provincial cultural relics protection projects are comprehensively promoted; the “rural memory” project opens a new situation of rural cultural heritage protection; the protection of cultural relics in Qufu area and Grand Canal world heritage, as well as the construction of national archaeological park highlight all the projects of national cultural relics protection.

  The event, as an important celebration of the Chinese Cultural Heritage Day in Shandong province, aims at calling upon people to take an immediate action to protect the valuable cultural heritage. More than 30 journalists from key central, provincial and Hong Kong media join in the activity to write a series of reports on the protection work of cultural heritage, the new recoveries of the first movable cultural relics census, the “rural memory” project and the construction of museum in Shandong.
