Sakai Mieiko: moved by the hospitality of Shandong people

2015/3/10 11:41:29   source:sdchina.com

Sakai Mieiko is 41 year old now. she says that she doesn't come out well in a photograph.

Sakai Mieiko sends her best wishes.

In Sept. of 2014, Sakai Mieiko only can say “Hello” and “Thank you” in Chinese. Five months later, she has already been able to communicate with people in Chinese fluently. Sakai Mieiko comes from Niigata-ken, Japan, and now is a student of Jinan University. The difference lies in her age—she is already 41 years old. “I like China and Chinese people very very much. I got a chance, so I’m here now.”

  Love is a good reason.

Mieiko is fond of travelling. In the year of 2008, she first came into Shanghai and opened his tour of China. She can speak English fluently, so there is no worry for her to travel around. The first time has made her become a China lover. Within three months, she went to Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Yongding, Guilin, etc. When in Guilin, she got ill. The backpackers who travelled together with her took good care of her and they became good friends afterwards. Such stories happens a lot during her journey. “This is it, I fall in deep love with the beautiful Chinese journeies and kind-hearted Chinese people.

First impressions of China: “People's Commune” and “Anti-Japanese Protests”.

“I was born in the year of 1973, the most impressive word about China, for me, is the “People's Commune”. Before coming to China, Mieiko still hold the impression of the level of “People's Commune”.

She also know some information about China from the daily News of Japan. She frankly told me that it is all negative news. She said, only if one person comes to China personally can he or she know the real facts. Though when she takes a taxi and she would call herself a Korean instead of a Japanese, that is to avoid the teeny-tiny chance to get awkward.

Sometimes, we failed to the “sayings” and missed the facts.

About “Offering a seat”, “humane” and “Taiwan”

Mieiko had come to China for six times, i.e., five being traveling south and the last one is for study in Jinan. Jinan is the first north city that she has ever been to. “Offering a seat” on a bus has left her the deepest impression. In the hometown of Confucius, everyone is very polite.

Besides, the interpersonal relationship is a big difference. “The shop keeper would say ‘hello’ to me, though he doesn’t even know my name. In Japan, there is clear line between ‘in’ and ‘out’. I know you and I will call you; I don’t know you and I t greet you unless necessary.” In this part, I more tend to like the way that Shandong people do.

She like to watch Treading On Thin Ice. The reporter told her that the main actor and actress had just got married in reality. “The main actor is a Taiwanese; the main actress is a Chinese; which country would count if they have a baby?” Mieiko asked. The reporter seriously told her that, Taiwan belongs to China and they two all are Chinese; there exists no questions like that.

41 years old and still being single, Mieiko jokingly tells the reporter to introduce her a boyfriend. After this interview, she will be on a train to Harbin. “What I lived now is no heating installed. Compared to staying in the cold room, it is better for me to go out and have some fun.”
