On November 27th, 2014, Jinan Foreign Affairs Office and University of Jinan jointly hosted Jinan Sister Cities Students Scholarships Awards Ceremony. This is the very first year of the establishment and implementation of the scholarships and 63 international students from 6 sister cities of Jinan are awarded the scholarships.

　　University of Jinan started raising funds and distributing scholarships to international students from sister cities in 2010. But the limited funds became a bottleneck for further cooperation in international exchange of higher education. Thanks to the endeavor of Jinan Foreign Affairs Office, Jinan Sister Cities Students Scholarships Program funded by Jinan Municipal Government was established at the end of 2013 to attract more inbound international students from sister cities of Jinan and promote international exchanges of Jinan.

　　With the establishment of the scholarships, Jinan has edged itself into the pioneering cities which provide governmental scholarships to students from sister cities, marking a significant milestone in the international exchange of Jinan. The scholarships will speed up the internationalization of Jinan by attracting more inbound international students. In addition, they will also serve as a new channel to elevate urban public diplomatic level of Jinan and propel the bilateral flow of talents between Jinan and its sister cities.
